Embark on a captivating 2-hour tour of the archaeological site of ancient Capua, where you will explore the remarkable Roman amphitheater associated with Spartacus and visit the Gladiator Museum.
Capua is historically significant as the birthplace of the gladiator revolt led by Spartacus against the Roman Empire, a rebellion sparked by the inhumane conditions endured by the gladiators.
Unfortunately, the uprising ended in tragedy, with the rebels suffering a complete defeat. Spartacus ultimately met his end on the battlefield, and thousands of his followers were crucified by Crassus along the Appian Way—a road constructed by Appius Claudius in 312 B.C. to connect Rome with Capua.
Your knowledgeable guide will lead you through the fascinating exhibits at the Gladiator Museum, bringing the history of this epic struggle to life.
Please note that the amphitheater is closed on Mondays.
